September - 2018 - Sanborn County Park The first outing of the 2018-2019 season was to Sanborn County Park in late September. The outing offered plenty of opportunity to work on outdoor rank requirements, including
camping, cooking, navigation, tools and nature requirements. October - 2018 - Moaning Caverns November - 2018 - Camp Cutter November was Wilderness Survival at Camp Cutter. December - 2018 - Angel Island In December, the Troop took the ferry from Tiburon to Angel Island. "The adventure starts with a ferry ride from Tiburon across Raccoon Strait (the name is no joke) it’s only a mile but pretty exciting- especially if you see sea lions, maybe a dolphin or a porpoise as well. We began at Immigration Station to look at all the new memorials being built. The Scouts find a cool beach to skip rocks. We continue on during our lovely Saturday afternoon backpack, past buildings that could tell us so much if they could talk. The small island is absolutely packed with remnants of geologic and human history. Lunch stop overlooking San Francisco Bay from Richmond to the Marin Headlands. So gorgeous! We didn’t have a view of San Francisco from our camp, but we could see Belvedere, Tiburon, and Mt. Tamalpais. Sunday AM was a bit foggy, and left anything uncovered a bit damp, but the sun did work on peeking through! Another wonderful Scout outing. Highly recommend an Angel Island day trip at least for every family- there is a lot we didn’t have time to explore, and it’s all worth it. " ASM Emma Shelton March - 2019 - Pancake Breakfast In March, Troop 206 held the annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, the only fundraising event the Troop holds each year. March - 2019 - Nike Missile Base & Alice Eastwood Camping On a drizzly weekend in March, the Troop headed to Marin county, first to visit the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers SF Bay Model in Sausalito. "It's huge!" was the comment. Then they went on to the Marin headlands to have a tour of the Nike Missile BAse from a NPS Ranger and visit stations around the park with Veterans posted at each station. It was an interesting visit. They even were able to see a missile being raised up to ground level and launch position! After the exciting day, the Troop camped at nearby Alice Eastwood group campsite. It was a drippy overnight but full of fun skits and good food. March - 2019 - Sunol Ohlone Trail In late March, two groups from Troop 206 set off onto the Ohlone Trail, one for a 3-day Philmont Prep Trek and the other for an overnight along the trail. The both enjoyed a beautiful weekend. April - 2019 - Troop 206 Camporee In April, Troop 206 created and enjoyed their own Camporee at Joe Grant Park in the hills above San Jose. There was a Blind Tarp Set-up Competition, a Knot Board Station, a Fishing/Casting event, First Aid and a Navigation and "10 Essentials" station. It was good natured competition as the Patrols battled it out to see who would win. Camping overnight was at a beautiful site surrounded by many wildflowers. May - 2019 - Shooting Sports It was a great weekend in May as Troop 206 went off to Cutter Scout Reservation for the Annual Shooting Sports outing. It was especially exciting to welcome many new Scouts along on their first outing with Troop 206. This weekend is a favorite among the scouts and involves archery, sling shot and riflery as the main events but as you will see in the pictures, it includes all the mainstays of advancement, eating and community service as well. May - 2019 - Sea to Skyline Philmont Prep Trek Over Memorial Day weekend the Philmont Crews hiked from Sea to Skyline. July - 2019 - Camp Meriwether |
